Volvo S40 Engine specifications 2011 model

From the end of May 2010, a new range of engines is available for the so-called "2011 model".
The range now includes three petrol engines (1.6, 2.0 and T5, the latter only available with front-wheel drive and automatic transmission), four Diesel engines (the existing DRIVe and the new D2, D3 and D4) and the 2.0F Flexible-fuel engine that can run either on normal petrol or E85, an ethanol-petrol mixture. The updated 2.0 and T5 and the new D2, D3 and D4 are compliant with the Euro 5 emission standard (the rest are Euro 4-compliant), and the DRIVe includes a start-stop system for reduced fuel consumption and emissions. New 6-speed gearboxes are used in the D2 (manual: B6 D2), D3 and D4 (manual: M66D, automatic: Aisin AWF21).

But after all now Swedes work not only over S60, but also over new S40 (present S40 has been shown in 2003). While prior to the beginning of batch production S40 it is still far – the car will appear on the conveyor only in two years – but some information about «Volvo S40» is accessible already now.

New S40, as well as the present generation of this car, will be constructed on platform Ford Focus. But the most interesting consists in other – most likely, S40 the third generation in the future becomes not a sedan, and a hatchback! After all buyers demand every year from manufacturers to do cars all is more practical and it is more convenient.

Besides Swedes wish to adjust release of off-road version S40 which will be called XC40 – cars of a similar class all become more popular recently.
